Illumination

Another story I had not intended to write, which came from somewhere in me by putting two things together and coming up with something I would hope no LLM could. This came from the thought of “what if we trained an LLM on the contents of the Vatican’s forbidden library?” What might that AI know? Well, as it turns out it doesn’t go well for us.

Also, this one went through a few title changes before I finally settled on “Illumination”. The God Engine, Fiat Lux, Deus ex machina and a host of other religious/knowledge adjacent possibilities – none of which felt quite right. Either too obvious or trying too hard.

So, here it is – Illumination.
