Atlas’ Shoulder

The idea for the first line came from a musing while on the train to work one morning (where I do my best thinking) about what real-world problems might afflict fictional / mythical beings and beasties.  I’d like to say the rest was easy (you try rhyming cruelty!) but I got there in the end.

One thing to note, I fully appreciate the “Western” slant to the characters / beings portrayed in this – a side-effect of my cultural upbringing.  What is presented here can be thought of as an ‘open source’ verse – feel free to create your own stanzas more representative of cultural icons that have meaning for you.  I only ask that you be cool when you do this – nothing involving real people, don’t be cruel and above all NO hatred.

Anyway, here it is.
